Nattó and Nattokinase Enzyme

Natto is a traditional Japanese fermented food that has been safely consumed for over 1,000 years. It is made by fermenting cooked soybeans in the presence of the bacterium Bacillus natto. Its high intake correlates with the risk of cardiovascular death. Nattokinase is the most important active ingredient in natto. It is a fibrinolytic enzyme: it dissolves fibrin (blood clots) without inhibiting wound healing. The activity is indicated by the FU (fibrin-degrading unit), the recommended daily dose is 2000 FU

Nattokinase exerts its effect by breaking down fibrin, a protein that promotes the formation of blood clots. When this fibrin breaks down, it allows the body to thin the blood and reduce its viscosity. This makes it easier for the heart to pump, which can help lower high blood pressure and prevent excessive blood clots in the arteries.

 Who should use nattokinase?

Nattokinase has been widely studied for its potential to reduce the risk of stroke or heart attack caused by excessive blood clotting or high blood pressure.

It is recomneded in case of:

• Risk factors for stroke/heart attack/thrombosis (high blood pressure, high cholesterol, obesity, smoking)
• Arteriosclerosis
• Long (and frequent) flights
• Cold extremities
• For athletes (for faster regeneration)

Recommended daily dose: 1 capsule on an empty stomach with plenty of water.
